Police kill key TTP commander Waleed Akbar in Dera Ismail Khan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Police killed a key militant commander of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the proscribed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) Waleed Akbar in an encounter which took place in the Prova tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday.

The District Police Officer (DPO) Sadiq Baloch said that the encounter occurred after an attack by the militants led by Waleed Akbar on a police convoy which was in the Hari Mor area of Porva tehsil during a search operation.

The DPO said that another militant was also injured in the encounter.
