PTI does not support martial law: Imran

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan reiterated on Monday that the army is not the solution to the country’s problems, and that his party does not support martial law.

In a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, the PTI leader said that his party does want any kind of violence, adding that their upcoming long march will be peaceful.

Imran said that the people should maintain peace and avoid vandalism and bloodshed. He also asked the police and bureaucrats to play their role for Pakistan and the next generation.

The PTI leader also reiterated his stance over rigging during 2013 general elections and said that Najam Sethi, Justice (retd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday and former Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice (retd) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ensured the the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) victory.

Khan said that Najam Sethi was the third biggest player in the elections rigging. He said that the Sharif brothers blessed Najam Sethi with key postings since they knew he could spill the beans regarding the rigging.

Imran Khan claimed that in this regard Shahbaz Sharif had regularized 100,000 employees of the provincial education department one month prior to the elections.

The PTI leader also alleged that Justice (retd) Ramday had held a dinner at his residence where all the Returning Officers (ROs) had been invited as well. He said that during the dinner function former chief justice Justice (retd) Iftikhar Chaudhry convinced all the ROs to support Nawaz Sharif.
