Pakistan seeks to deepen economic relations with Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that there is need to address impediments and deepen economic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In a meeting with Sri Lanka’s Secretary for External Affairs Kshenuka D Senewiratune in Islamabad on Wednesday, the prime minister emphasized the importance of relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of trade and economy.

The prime minister said that there is significant potential for trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka particularly after the free trade agreement 2005 became operational.

Senewiratune said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have always supported each other on various international fora. She also expressed the resolve that this cooperation in the realms of trade and investment would continue between the two countries in the future as well.
