Pakistan, Sri Lanka agree to enhance cooperation in various fields

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, education, culture and defence.

The understanding came during the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry led the Pakistani side and Kshenuka Senewiratne led the Sri Lankan side in the fourth round of political consultations.

Kshenuka Senewiratne briefed her Pakistani counterpart on the current developments in Sri Lanka including the efforts on rehabilitation, reconciliation and resettlement in the post war conflict areas.

Senewiratne appreciated the development assistance by the government of Pakistan towards Sri Lanka’s reconstruction efforts.
