ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that the US drones strikes are harming Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate terrorism in the North Waziristan tribal region.

The statement comes shortly after a US drone reportedly fired two missiles at a house and a vehicle in the Doga Madakhel village in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan, killing at least six suspected militants.

In her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that Pakistan has succeeded in generating strong public opinion against drones as we have witnessed increasingly emerging consensus among international community against drones.

The Foreign Office spokesperson further said that Pakistan has not made any appeal to international community for assistance to thousands of persons displaced by the military operation in the tribal region and will not ask for that in future.

The spokesperson said that encouraging response is being received from China and Russia about the North Waziristan operation.
