ISLAMABAD: There is a temporary ban on non-government organizations (NGOs) to carry out relief activities for the persons displaced by the North Waziristan military operation, the federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed said while talking to Voice of America (VoA).

The information minister said that the people of North Waziristan and the militants have their own mindset about the NGOs. He said that the government will provide security to these organizations if they are allowed to work in the area.

The minister acknowledged providing relief to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) is a challenge and said that the government is providing assistance to the IDPs of North Waziristan in cash and kind.

Rasheed said that there were two options with the government to either leave the people on the mercy of terrorists or defeat terrorism forever. He said that the government opted for the second option with the national support to wipe out terrorists.
