ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani commerce minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman will meet in Bhutan next month to discuss means to promote bilateral trade.

The two ministers will meet on the sidelines of the SAFTA (South Asian Free Trade Area) ministerial council meeting in Bhutan on July 24.

This will be the first meeting between the commerce ministers of the two countries after the establishment of a new government in India.

An official source said that trade liberalization will be at the top of the agenda when the commerce ministers meet. They will also discuss the agreements signed in 2012 to remove bottlenecks in trade facilitation.

Moreover, the meeting between the two commerce ministers will also take up issues such as further trimming the sensitive list, removing visa restrictions, allowing banking channels and mobile connectivity, he added.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
