Pakistan, Iran agree to increase annual trade volume to $5 billion: envoy

TEHRAN: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to boost the volume of annual trade to $5 billion, the Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Nour Muhammad Jadmani said.

The Pakistani envoy said that the decision was made following the recent trip by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Tehran.

“In the past, trade volume between Iran and Pakistan stood at $1.3 billion a year but recently the annual trade exchange dropped to $400 million,” the Iranian media quoted Jadmani as saying.

Jadmani also described Pakistan and Iran as two friend countries which share necessary cultural commonalities for facilitating and increasing trade exchanges.
