KARACHI: Taliban attack again Karachi Airport area at ASF academy near Karachi airport, flight operations again suspended. Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand faction tweeted on Tuesday that the group has carried out this second attack. An exchange of fire between a heavy contingent of security forces and the militants is reportedly continuing on Tuesday after the later launched an attack on the Airport Security Force (ASF) academy situated near the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. ASF sources claims terrorists harbours in Kachi Abadi (shanty homes) surrounded Airport strips and 90% residents of this illegal settlement belong from KPK areas. ASF claims that security of airport will remain at stake unless this illegal settlement is not removed. Taliban attacks again Karachi Airport area at ASF academy near Karachi airport, flight operations again suspended. “Flights at Karachi Airport have been suspended until further notice,” the spokesman for Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority told Reuters by telephone. A Twitter account operated by Omar Khorasani of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand faction tweeted on Tuesday that the group has carried out this second attack.

The media reports said that sounds of explosions were also heard while roads leading to the airport have been cordoned off as the standoff between the security forces and the militants persists. The initial reports suggest that the four or seven militants entered the premises from the Pehalwan Goth side. Senior Pakistani journalist Saqlain Imam currently working for BBC says in his twitter:

  Following the attack, flight operations at the Jinnah International Airport have again been suspended.
