1,320 MW coal-fired power project to be set up near port Bin Qasim

KARACHI: A 1,320 megawatt coal-fired power project will be set up near port Bin Qasim to help address the on-going power shortage in the country and will also contribute to lowering of consumer electricity tariffs.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard between a Korean based company Asiapak Investments and the Chinese Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC).

The proposed energy project is based on six plants with a capacity of 220 MW each.

The project will be jointly developed with commercial operation expected in the first quarter of 2018.
