PM Nawaz vows to make Pakistan economically viable, self-reliant

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed the resolve to make the country economically viable and self-reliant, as the nation is celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer on Wednesday to mark the day of nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan on May 28, 1998.

In his address at a function in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer in Lahore on Wednesday, the prime minister said that several projects in this regard have been started to realize this dream. He said that it is part of his faith to fulfill aspirations of the people.

The prime minister said that Pakistan wants to have friendly relations with its neighbors to reap the fruit of progress and prosperity.

Earlier on the occasion of 16th Youm-e-Takbeer, President Mamnoon Hussain and the prime minister in their messages said that strong defence guarantees a nation’s solidarity and identity.

The president said that it is a natural right of every nation and society to secure its survival and solidarity. He said that today the country is confronted with a host of internal and external challenges and it is imperative that we should move ahead in unity.

The prime minister assured the nation that Pakistan has a strong defence against any aggression. He said that the nuclear assets that are guarantee of national security are in safe hands and the same fact has been expressed and reiterated by numerous international institutions. However, Sharif emphasized that Pakistan being a responsible nation is playing a vibrant role in the comity of nations.
