AsiaNagpur shame: Girl raped inside school

Nagpur: A 10-year-old Indian girl was raped by a youth on the premises of her school here on Tuesday morning. The Dispatch News Desk reports.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Sanjay Darade said, “The girl is very young, so we are trying to get her to give us clues about the culprit. But what we know is a youth had approached her when she was sitting alone on the premises of her school. The youth then raped her. We are told she had come about 40 minutes before the school opened.” Darade said that 10 teams had been formed to nab the culprit.

Asked if the school’s watchman didn,t notice anything, Darade said, “He says he opened the school late. However, he is very much a part of our investigation.” The police said they were also questioning school authorities. The girl’s parents are labourers.

Meanwhile, in Vidarbha, five more cases of rape were reported. A 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with the rape of three minor girls — one aged six and the other two aged seven — in a village in Amravati district. “One of the girls narrated the incident that apparently happened a few days ago. The two other girls then came forward and accused the same man. The man knew all three. One of the victims is the granddaughter of the man’s co-brother,” Superintendent of Police (Amravati Rural) Veeresh Prabhu told the media. The accused, Dnyaneshwar Markam, however hasn’t confessed to the crime, Prabhu said.

In Awandhi village, in Nagpur district, a 25-year-old man Mangesh Chandankhede was arrested for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl when she was taking bath in her house. Her parents were away working on their farm at the time. The accused also threatened to kill her if she spoke about the incident to anyone.

Also a 12-year-old girl from Nagpur alleged that her father had been raping her for the past five months. Her mother reported the matter to the police. The father, Sheikh Aseef Sheikh Habib, a taxi driver, was arrested on Monday.
