Sports University to be set up to promote sports activities in country

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to promote sports activities in the country, the federal government is working on a programme to set up Sports University while funds would be allocated in the next budget for this purpose.

This was stated by the minister for inter provincial coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada while concluding the discussion in the Senate on national sports policy on Monday.

The minister said that different sports related programmes and courses will be started in other Universities of the country.

Pirzada said that international coaches and trainers will be invited to groom the national players as per international standards.

Moreover, he said that said a fund has been set up for the welfare of the veteran players. He said that the government has also sent different players to other countries for training in a number of fields.
