New textile policy to be ready by June 30

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for textile industries Abbas Khan Afridi said on Monday that a new textile policy focusing on value-addition and boosting exports will be ready by June 30, 2014.

During the question hour session of the National Assembly on Monday, the minister said that one of the prime objectives of the policy is to operationalize the technology up-gradation scheme to encourage investment in shuttle less loom and garments sectors.

The minister further informed the house that cloth exports have registered seven per cent increased during the current financial year as compared to the same period last year.
