ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that current duration of load shedding is unacceptable and directed the concerned authorities to reduce its duration to six hours in urban and seven hours in rural areas in next few days.
The prime minister was chairing a high level meeting to review energy crisis in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the prime minister directed to shift the fuel supply through Railway to power houses to avoid leakages, pilferage and corruption.
The meeting was informed that 3,500 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid from hydel sources by the end of this month. Out of this, 1,000 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid on Sunday.
Similarly, 630 megawatt electricity will be added to the system through additional supply of fuel to Muzaffargarh and Jamshoro power plants.
The prime minister also directed for reactivating the dormant power stations.
