RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan army believes in the strengthening of democracy and supremacy of constitution.

In his address to a function in connection with the Martyrs Day at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi on Wednesday night, the COAS said that Pakistan army supports every move that is directed towards elimination of terrorism and restoration of peace in the country.

The COAS stressed that all state institutions should work together for the success of democratic system.

The army chief said that the armed forces are capable of defeating anti-state elements if they do not surrender unconditionally and accept writ of the government. He said that the country is facing internal and external challenges and collective efforts and unity are required to overcome them.

General Raheel said that Pakistan army has come up to the expectations of the nation and will never disappoint them while defending the border of the country. He assured the nation that Pakistan army will foil nefarious design of enemies of Pakistan.

Referring to the Kashmir issue, the army chief said that it is jugular vein for Pakistan and long lasting peace cannot be established in sub- continent without resolving the issue.

General Raheel Sharif said that sacrifices of Kashmiri people will never go in vain and they will succeed in their struggle for the right to self-determination.

In addition, he said that Baloch people have full confidence in Pakistan army and it is reflected by joining the army of 20,000 Baloch youth.
