First Statement issued by Hamid Mir from Hospital. “ISI was not happy with me”, says Hamid Mir

KARACHI: Hamid Mir, a senior journalist and Geo TV anchorperson who sustained serious injuries after unknown gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on him in Karachi on Saturday, still holds the country’s premier spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) responsible for orchestrating the attack, citing his brother Amir Mir reported on media on Thursday.

Amir Mir while speaking to the media outside the Aga Khan Hospital, where the wounded journalist is being treated for his injuries, further said that Geo TV network and his brother had faced the similar circumstances when former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf had imposed an emergency in the country and shut down TV channels in 2007.

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) served a show cause notice to the administration of Geo News for allegedly bringing ISI into disrepute and harming national interest, and also demanded a reply from the news channel’s administration by May 6.
