Govt, Taliban peace negotiators discuss future strategy

ISLAMABAD: The government and Taliban negotiating committees met at Punjab House in Islamabad on Wednesday with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in the chair and discussed the way forward in the dialogue process.

It was the first meeting of the committees after the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced not to extend ceasefire.

Talking to media after the meeting, the head of the TTP negotiators’ committee, Maulana Samiul Haq said that they would contact the Taliban Shura to discuss future strategy.

Maulana Sami lauded the restraint being exercised by the government despite end of ceasefire by the TTP.

The TTP negotiators’ committee head said that the two committees have agreed to form a new subcommittee to address reservations shown by both sides.
