MQM joins PPP-led Sindh govt

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led Sindh government as its two members took oath as ministers of Sindh cabinet in Karachi on Tuesday evening.

The Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan administered the oath to them at a ceremony at the Governor House. Those who took oath included Dr. Saghir Ahmed and Rauf Siddiqui.

Moreover, Faisal Sabzwari and Adil Siddiqui were appointed as advisors to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, while Abdul Haseeb was inducted in the provincial cabinet as the special assistant to CM Sindh

The sources said that although the portfolios are not allotted yet but it is likely that Rauf Siddiqui will get portfolio of Commerce and Industries, Dr Saghir Ahmed-Health, Faisal Sabzwari- Youth Affairs, Adil Siddiqui-Tourism and Abdul Haseeb- Auqaf.

The ceremony was attended by MQM leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senior Minister for Education Nisar Khuhro, Minister for Information Sharjeel Memon, Inspector General of Police Sindh Iqbal Mehmood and AIGP Karachi Shahid Hayat.
