KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will move a resolution in the Sindh Assembly on Monday to condemn the murderous attack on the senior journalist and GeoNews anchorperson Hamid Mir.

The Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said while talking to media that his party today would move a resolution condemning the murderous attack on Hamid Mir. He said that the attack on Hamid Mir was an attack on freedom of expression.

On Saturday, unknown gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on the vehicle of Hamid Mir on Sharae Faisal near Natha Khan area in Karachi when he was on his way to his office from the airport. Subsequently, the senior journalist was seriously injured as he received six bullets.

However, his health is stable now after doctors at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) took out three of the six bullets after a successful surgery.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered a judicial inquiry into the attack and decided to constitute a three-member judicial commission to probe the murder attempt on Hamid Mir.

Meanwhile, the local police have initiated investigation from various angles to identify the attackers who ambushed Hamid Mir, while the investigating team has also completed the geo-fencing of the area after 24 hours of the incident.

The probe team comprising police officials of Karachi Police recorded the details of the entire crime scene employing the details gathered from the eye witnesses and other sources.

During the recording, the same car was used in which Hamid Mir was travelling at the time of attack. The video also included the driver and Mir’s guard who were with him during the ambush.
