KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Monday formed a six-member committee led by CID Additional IG to investigate the terror attack that rocked the Karachi’s Abbas Town on Sunday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

At least 45 people including women and children lost their lives while 140 others were injured in a massive bombing in the Karachi’s Shia-dominated neighbourhood of Abbas Town on Sunday evening.

According to sources, a meeting was held on Monday with Chief Minister Sindh in the chair to review law and order situation. At the meeting, a committee consisting of senior officers of police and rangers was formed to probe Sunday blast in Karachi.

The committee would present its report to chief minister in three days, sources said.

On the other hand, Shia Ulema Council (SUC) and different other organizations demanded a targeted operation against the terror banned outfits and to deweaponize the Karachi.

In a press conference, SUC leader Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi reiterated that the blast was not a result of sectarian violence. He said that decision regarding burial of the deceased should be made after consulting their heirs.

Taqvi further said that that the federal government and Punjab government played ‘political game’ by blaming each other for patronizing the terrorists.

Giving ultimatum to the government till Thursday, he demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in Abbas town bomb.
