NEPRA approves hike in power tariff by Rs2.24 per unit

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs2.24 per unit in power tariff for all companies of Wapda to be charged under monthly fuel adjustment. However, increase would not be applicable to consumers of the Karachi Electric, the power distribution company in the metropolis.

The increased tariff would be passed on to consumers in the coming month’s electricity bills.

The Central Power Purchase Agency had requested NEPRA to allow the increase for the next billing month on account of higher generation cost during the month of January this year. On this, NEPRA approved the raise in power tariff up to Rs. 2.24 per unit.
