KARACHI: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah said on Saturday that the caretake government would assume office on March 16, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

“There will be interim government in country right at 12:01 am on March 16,” the minister said while talking to media after attending a ceremony organized by Haj Organization.

The PPP stalwart said that consultation was underway for the name of caretaker prime minister and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) would propose names for the post after its meeting.

Shah said that for the first time lawmakers knew as to when the National Assembly was going to expire.

The PPP leader said that President Asif Ali Zardari would give farewell dinner to all the MNAs if the opposition gave its consent to attend the occasion.
