PakistanElection Commission did not implement Karachi delimitation order; says SC

KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday issued an interim order in Karachi law and order case, taking a serious notice of Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) inaction regarding delimitation of constituencies in the city, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A larger bench of the apex court led by Justice Anwer Zaheer in its twenty seven pages order, which includes a six-page additional note by Justice Khilji Arif, said it had clearly ordered the delimitation in Karachi constituencies and not merely made an observation in this regard.

The court said the ECP did not implement its order on delimitation, and kept the apex court in dark.

It further said the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) review petition was dismissed as its counsel Dr. Farogh Naseem didn’t stress while the MQM-H petition was rejected over non-pursuance.
