PM Nawaz to visit famine-hit Tharparkar

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in the famine-hit Tharparkar district in Sindh province on Monday to review relief activities in the affected areas.

The prime minister accompanied by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited civil hospital in Mithi, the capital of Tharparkar district, and inquired about the health of ailing children.

Sharif directed the doctors and para-medical staff on duty to provide best medical facilities to the children and take all the necessary measures to save the lives of drought hit children.

Earlier on his arrival in Mirpurkhas, the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah received the prime minister accompanied by the federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed at the airport.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister took notice of public problems due to security measures taken in Mithi ahead of his visit there. The prime minister directed that all the hospitals should remain opened for the patients. He said that the patients should have an access to the places wherever they want to go.

On the other hand, the PPP patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accompanied by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon also arrived in Tharparkar from Karachi on Monday morning to personally review the measures thus far taken by the Sindh government to overcome the grave famine situation.
