Three killed, eleven injured in twin Karachi blasts

KARACHI: Three people were killed and eleven others including a journalist besides police and Rangers personnel sustained injuries when two bomb blasts went off in the Orangi Town area on Wednesday, dispatch news desk (DND) reported on 21 November, 2012.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rustam Nawaz said at about 6:15pm first explosion took place near the Haider-e-Karrar Imambargah, Sector-5E, Peerabad. While second explosion took place, about 8-10 feet away from the initial blast site, he said.

According to sources, in the first explosion three people including a suspected suicide bomber were killed. In the second explosion, seven people were injured.

Deputy Inspector General Police West Range Jawed Alam Odho said in the first blast, the bomb was attached to a motorcycle and exploded with its rider. According to the BDS report, the bomb weighed about four kilogrammes and contained ball bearings and locally-made explosive materials.

Odho said the second bomb was planted inside a cement block. It was about one kilogramme in weight and also contained ball bearings, he said.
