Court announces verdict in Wali Khan Babur murder case

KARACHI: An anti-terrorist court on Saturday announced its verdict in a case related to the murder of Geo reporter Wali Khan Babur and awarded death penalty to two absconders Kamran Alias Zeshan and Fasial Mota.

   

Moreover, the court also awarded life imprisonment to four culprits involved in the case including Mehmood alias Nafsiati, Naveed Alias Polka, Muhammad Ali Rizvi and Shah Rukh alias Mani. However, a culprit Shakeel Ahmed was released due to lack of evidences.

The court announced its judgment in Shikarpur Jail where the case was shifted from Karachi for security reasons.

Wali Khan Babur was killed in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on January 13, 2011. Six others persons were also killed in connection with the case including public prosecutor Naimatullah rindwa, two police constables, brother of investigation officer, police informer and a witness.
