US offers full assistance to Pakistan to improve law and order

ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said on Monday that although it is an internal matter of Pakistan to improve law and order in the country‚ yet the United States is ready to extend all possible assistance in this regard.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan‚ the US ambassador said that Pakistan has rendered matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism and his country is committed to assist Islamabad government in establishing writ of the state in every nook and cranny of the country.

The US ambassador said that Pakistan-US relations have significantly improved as a result of strategic dialogue and hoped the mutual cooperation will be further strengthened.

Olson said that the US wants to expand ties with Pakistan in various fields for stability and development of the country. He said that the US government is considering setting up another working group in education under the strategic dialogue to promote education in Pakistan.

Richard Olson further said that his country will fully assist Pakistan to overcome energy crisis and speedy development of other sectors. He said that 1‚000 megawatt electricity has been added to national grid in Pakistan through US cooperation.

The ambassador said that the US will also cooperate with Pakistan to overcome gas shortage in the country and help it in the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Moreover, Olson said that the US government endorses the steps taken by Pakistan to improve its economy.

Olson said that that there is a forward movement in providing Pakistani goods access to the US market, adding that negotiations are underway between the two countries for an understanding in this regard.

The US ambassador to Pakistan said that Washington will continue to remain engaged with Islamabad even after pullout of NATO troops from Afghanistan.
