IHC withdraws contempt notice against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday withdrew a contempt of court notice against the federal minister for petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi after his unconditional apology.

The IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued the directive while hearing a contempt plea against the minister which was filed by Javed Akbar, a counsel for CNG station owners.

During the hearing, the federal minister appeared before Justice Siddiqui and apprised him that he had unintentionally used the word unfortunate during a press conference held on January 11. He said that it was a slip of tongue and he always held the judiciary in highest respect.
