Musharraf Treason case: Special court resumes hearing

ISLAMABAD: The counsel of former President Pervez Musharraf submitted an application before the special court seeking an exemption for his client from personal appearance in today’s proceedings of treason case, but the court rejected and issued orders for him to appear today.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed hearing the treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad on Thursday.

Musharraf, who is under treatment in a military hospital in Rawalpindi, did not appear before the court for today’s proceedings. His counsel, Anwar Mansoor, said that his client could not appear in court today on account of his ill health.

The former president’s counsel said that doctors have recommended that Musharraf be treated at a hospital in France, the same medical facility where he once underwent tests.

However, the special court rejected and issued orders for Pervez Musharraf to appear today.

Meanwhile, an-terrorism court in Islamabad ordered to produce former President Pervez Musharraf before it by 12.00 noon today in judges’ detention case.

The order was issued by judge of the anti-terrorism court Attiqur Rehman.
