Saudi Arab urges to thwart plot to spoil Pak-Saudi ties, assures assistance for economic stability of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal, who is currently on a two-day official visit in Islamabad, said on Tuesday that designs of those plotting to spoil relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia should be thwarted, adding that his country will continue to provide all possible assistance for economic stability in Pakistan.

In his address to a joint press conference along with the prime minister’s advisor on foreign affairs and national security Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad, the Saudi foreign minister said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy historic and deep rooted relations and his country does not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan.

The Saudi foreign minister said that his country will extend cooperation to Pakistan in energy and other sectors.

Saud Al-Faisal said that there is need for joint efforts to eradicate the menace of terrorism. He pointed out that the international troops are drawing down from Afghanistan by the end of 2014 and efforts are required to stop the terrorists from regrouping.

In his remarks, the advisor Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent relations and both the countries in today’s talks reiterated their desire to further expand these relations for the benefit of the peoples of two countries.

The advisor said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his interaction informed the visiting dignitary about his government’s plans to enhance growth‚ create job opportunities and reduce poverty for brighter future of Pakistan. He said that we will encourage the Saudi investors to invest in different sectors especially energy.

Sartaj Aziz appreciated Saudi economic assistance to Pakistan and said that there is mutual desire to further intensify economic interaction.

The prime minister’s advisor said that both the countries share similarity of views on international and regional issues. He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia stand by each other and share views on peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, both Saudi foreign minister Saud Al Faisal and the prime minister’s advisor on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz held a meeting in Islamabad and agreed to enhance cooperation in all fields including investment‚ trade‚ energy and export of skilled and semi-skilled manpower to the Kingdom.
