Taliban attack military base in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, one NATO soldier killed

KABUL: One NATO soldier was killed when Taliban militants launched an attack on a joint NATO-Afghan military base in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nangarhar on Saturday morning.

The attack occurred in Shinwar district of Nangarhar province where one attacker in an explosives-laden vehicle blew himself up at the entrance of the base, and five other insurgents were gunned down by the Afghan security forces as they tried to storm the facility.

In a statement, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack.
