PM rejects summary to increase petroleum prices

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has rejected a summary for increasing prices of the petroleum products in the country.

The Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGRA) sent the summary proposing increase in the prices of petroleum products.

In a statement issued by the ministry of finance on Tuesday, the federal minister of finance Ishaq Dar said that the prime minister has rejected the increase in the petroleum prices from January 1 despite increasing trend in the prices of petroleum products at international level, which also impacts prices at domestic level.

The finance minister said that the government will maintain the existing prices of the petroleum products and will not increase them.

Dar further said that the government will bear a subsidy of Rs5.36 billion for providing relief to the people.
