KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday withdrew show cause notice for contempt of court against Inspector General of Sindh Police after he offered apology and assured of action against all police officers involved in crimes, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

On Tuesday, the apex court issued a show cause notice to Sindh Inspector General (IGP) Fayaz Leghari for concealing facts of police officials’ involvement in criminal cases and ordered the suspension of 423 personnel of the Sindh police involved in illegal activities.

A larger bench headed by Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali resumed the hearing of the case pertaining to the implementation of the court’s earlier order over the Karachi law and order situation at the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry today.

During the proceedings,the IG Sindh tendered written apology and assured the court that action would be taken against all police officers involved in crimes. Subsequently, the court withdrew show cause notice against him.

The IGP also submitted a list of 800 police officials who were suspended for their criminal activities.
