COAS reiterates full support to govt-led peace process

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Saturday reiterated full support to the government-led ongoing peace process but emphasized that terrorist attacks would not be tolerated and will be responded to effectively.

According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS General Raheel Sharif visited Corps Headquarters at Peshawar on Saturday where on his arrival he laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of motherland.

Later, he was briefed in detail at the Corps Headquarters about various operational, training and administrative matters.

The COAS appreciated the resolve displayed by the officers and men during fight against terrorism and bringing stability to the militancy hit areas.

Appreciating the infrastructure building and reconstruction work being undertaken by the army for socio-economic benefit of the local population of FATA and Malakand, the COAS instructed all concerned to ensure quality and timely completion of these projects.

The COAS reiterated full support to the government-led ongoing peace process. He however, emphasized that terrorist attacks will not be tolerated and will be responded effectively.

Earlier, on his arrival at Peshawar, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani.
