Pakistan to continue pursuing dialogue option with militants: PM

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government will continue to pursue the option of dialogue with militants for peace and stability in the region though there are some obstacles in the dialogue process with them, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said in an interview with a Turkish TV channel.

The cabinet committee on national security in its meeting held on Tuesday had also decided to hold talks with the Taliban as the first option to eliminate terrorism from the country, while other options will be used as a last resort to wipe out terrorism.

In reply to a question regarding the Afghanistan’s situation, the prime minister said that stability in Afghanistan is vital for Pakistan and the entire region. He said there is complete understanding between Pakistan and Afghanistan on various issues.

The prime minister said that Pakistan also wants resolution of all outstanding issues with India through dialogue.

Referring to domestic issues‚ Sharif said that Pakistan faces huge challenges in energy‚ economy‚ law and order areas but as a strong nation we will overcome all these hurdles.

Sharif said that the load shedding has decreased and the economic growth rate has improved. The manufacturing sector has shown growth with improving law and order situation.

The premier said that his government plans to initiate Hydel Power Projects to generate 15,000 megawatt electricity. He said that 10 coal based power plants to generate 6,600 megawatt electricity would also be set up.

The prime minister said that his government will welcome Turkish companies investment in the wind power sector. A special economic zone would be set up where all incentives would be offered to investors.
