PakistanPML-N, JUI-F agree to join hands in elections

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) on Monday reached a consensus to formulate an electoral alliance in the upcoming general elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Both parties constituted committees to chalk out the specifics of the cooperation between them.

Talking to media persons after both parties’ leaders held a meeting at Raiwind this morning, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif said his party wanted to stop those who were against free, fair elections and were trying to delay them.

The JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that we were concerned over deteriorating law and order condition in the country. In our opinion, prevailing situation would have changed if parliamentary resolutions over elimination of the terrorism had been followed, he said.

Fazl informed media that during the meeting there was also an agreement with the PML-N to have a consensus on names for the caretaker government.

Earlier, today’s morning Maulana Fazal led a JUI-F delegation called on Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence to invite the PML-N for attending all parties’ Peace Jirga, convened on February 28 for elimination of terrorism from the country. The PML-N accepted the invitation extended by JUI-F and agreed to attend the All Parties Conference.

During their meeting, both leaders exchanged views over various issues caused by the terrorism to the country and upcoming general elections.

Both the leaders also weighed possibilities of electoral alliance between the PML-N and JUI-F during next polls and agreed to join hands for that.
