Rigging in elections not to be accepted: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that rigging in the elections will not be accepted as there can be no democracy without transparent elections.

Talking to media representatives on his arrival at the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that his party wants thumb verification of votes in four constituencies, adding that this process could be extended to all the 272 constituencies following verification of votes in four constituencies.

The PTI chairman said that he feared massive rigging in upcoming local bodies elections in Punjab. He said that there is no need of such elections in which rigging is to be done.

Imran khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will introduce biometric system for local government elections in the province. He further said that said his party was ready to hold recount in any of the constituency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) wanted.

In reply to a question regarding his party’s decision to stage demonstration on December 22 against price hike‚ Imran said it is the responsibility of the federal government to check the price hike caused by surge in the prices of electricity and petroleum products.
