KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has declined an invitation of joining the Pakistan People Party (PPP)-led Sindh government, the party spokesman said on Friday.

The invitation was extended during a meeting held at the Dubai residence of former President Asif Ali Zardari where senior leaders of the MQM had gathered to hold consultations and meet with PPP co-Chairman, Faryal Talpur and Rehman Malik.

The MQM delegation was comprised of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, Khalid Maqbool, Babar Ghauri and Nadeem Nusrat.

The MQM spokesman said that the meeting with the PPP was part of the democratic process.

However, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon denied this claim and said that the PPP had not extended any invitation to the MQM of joining the provincial government.

“The meeting is being held at the behest of the MQM. No invitation to join the provincial government has been made.”
