ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved raise in power tariff up to Rs 16 per unit after accepting government’s summary on price hike of the electricity.

A notification of new increased power prices has been issued by the NEPRA on request of the federal government.

NEPRA has fixed minimum power price Rs 2 per unit for lifeline consumers using 1 to 50 units per month, Rs 5.79 per unit for 51 to 100 units, Rs 8.11 for 101 to 200 units, Rs 12.90 for 201 to 300 units, and maximum Rs 16 per unit for 301 to 700 units.

Power consumers using over 700 units every month will pay Rs 19 per unit for peak hours and Rs, 12 per unit for off peak houRs

Government will pay Rs 14 per unit subsidy for lifeline consumers, Rs 6.31 subsidy for 51 to 100 units, Rs 6.89 for 101 to 200 units, Rs 2.91 for 200 to 300 units, and Re. 1 subsidy on 301 to 700 units of the electricity.
