PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that law and order is first priority of the government and every possible step is being taken to restore peace and security across the country.

The premier was speaking at a high level meeting on law and order situation in Peshawar where he arrived earlier in the day on a day-long visit to discuss law and order situation in general and Peshawar in particular.

The prime minister said that security forces will be equipped with latest gadgets to deal with the security situation including terrorism.

Sharif said that the government is making legislation to curb the menace of terrorism, adding that those involved in terrorism will be brought to justice.

Governor Engineer Shaukatullah and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak‚ Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervez Rashid‚ Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz‚ IG FC and Corps Commander Peshawar attended the meeting.

Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrani briefed the meeting on law and order situation in the province.
