ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called for ceasefire ahead of peace talks between the government and the Taliban, adding that talks should be held under the ambit of the Constitution.

“Our enemy wants to keep armed forces remain occupied in the federally-administered tribal areas (FATA),” Khan said while talking to newsmen outside the Parliament House on Monday.

The PTI chief said that talks should be held under the ambit of the Constitution. He said that conditions of talks would be discussed on the table. “We fought this war for nine years without success,” Khan said.

To a question, he expressed condolence at the death of Major General Sanaullah in Taliban attack, saying that it could also affect All Parties Conference (APC) decisions.

On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur-Rehman said that the government should hold talks with the Taliban to bring peace to the country despite the martyrdom of Army officers in Upper Dir.

Talking to media in Islamabad‚ the JUI-F chef said wrong doings of past will have to be readdressed for the sake of peace. He said the APC has already given mandate to the government to initiate dialogue with the Taliban.
