ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed to upgrade Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on the footprints of Malaysian Airlines.

A special meeting of the federal cabinet was held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair.

During the meeting, he said the PIA is receiving billions of rupees of bailout package on monthly basis‚ which could be diverted to the energy projects. He hoped this will yield better results to control load shedding.

Earlier‚ a Malaysian delegation briefed the cabinet about rapid progress in various sectors in Malaysia including Agriculture‚ Tourism‚ Swift Airlines and Microsoft. The delegation also briefed the meeting on greater Kuala Lumpur project.

The Prime Minister appreciated the former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahateer Muhammad’s development plan.
