KARACHI: At least six people, including a member of  Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), were killed in different violence and firing incidents in the metropolis during the last 24 hours.

According to reports, the assassins riding a motorbike shot to death the JI’s former UC nazim Zafar Iqbal at Furniture Market in Liaquatabad while he was opening his s hop.

Senior JI leader Dr Merajul Haq Siddiqui led the funeral prayer of Zafar Iqbal. A large number of JI workers attended his funeral prayers.

It should be mentioned here that Zafar was elected as UC Nazim in 2003 local body elections from Liaquatabad’s US-8.

A youth, Rashid, was killed near Natha Khan bridge in Shah Faisal Colony. A eunuch was stabbed to death in Kemari. An unnamed person was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Maymar.

Meantime, two other people lost their lives in firing incidents in New Karachi’s Madina Colony and near Urdu Bazaar in Nazimabad.
