MOSCOW: Three police personnel were killed while six other were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in his car at a police security checkpoint early on Thursday in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus region of Dagestan, Russian agency RIA reported.
According to reports, the suicide bomber detonated explosives in his automobile after police attempted to stop the car on the outskirts of the city of Khasavyurt in Dagestan province. One person is still unaccounted for.
“The suicide bomber detonated the explosives when police officers tried to stop the car and check (the person’s) documents at a security check point on the way to Khasavyurt,” RIA reported a local Interior Ministry statement as saying.
