In this interview, he stated that such systems (Sharia law) are incompatible with American and Texan values, urging immigrants to assimilate by respecting U.S. laws, culture, and traditions instead of importing conflicting ideologies. Hunt warns against systems that undermine communities, a message that has drawn strong engagement amid ongoing U.S. immigration and cultural debates. He said:

That is not America, that’s not Texas, and it never will be. If you want to come to this country, you assimilate. You respect our laws, our culture, and our values. You don’t import systems that destroy communities.
