Islamabad: Following Pakistan’s retaliatory military action against Afghanistan, in which several military posts of the Afghan Taliban were reportedly destroyed, proscribed militant organizations Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) have openly declared their support for the Afghan Taliban regime and announced plans to intensify attacks inside Pakistan.
According to security sources, the announcements were made through separate official statements issued late last night by the two terrorist groups. In their statements, the groups called on their fighters to carry out attacks across Pakistan wherever opportunities arise, describing their actions as support for the Afghan Taliban following the recent escalation.
TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud, in a statement circulated on militant channels, instructed his followers to launch attacks throughout Pakistan. A similar directive was issued by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar leadership, urging its operatives to target Pakistani security forces and state institutions. Both outfits are globally banned and are listed as terrorist organizations by multiple countries.
Security analysts say these public declarations reinforce Pakistan’s long-standing position that the Afghan Taliban regime has provided safe havens, logistical support, funding, and access to weapons to terrorist groups operating against Pakistan and the wider region. Islamabad has repeatedly maintained that TTP leadership and fighters operate from Afghan soil with impunity, despite repeated assurances by Kabul that Afghan territory would not be used against neighboring states.
“The open alignment of TTP and JuA with the Afghan Taliban, especially at a time of heightened tensions, further exposes the deep nexus between the Taliban authorities and transnational terrorist networks,” a senior security official said on condition of anonymity. “These statements validate Pakistan’s concerns that terrorist infrastructure continues to exist and function inside Afghanistan.”
Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of failing to take effective action against TTP elements allegedly based across the border. Officials argue that these sanctuaries enable militants to plan, finance, and execute attacks inside Pakistan, undermining regional peace and security.
The latest developments come amid rising cross-border tensions, including artillery fire and militant attacks along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border. Islamabad has warned that continued inaction by the Afghan Taliban against terrorist groups could further destabilize bilateral relations and pose serious risks to regional security.
