Monitoring Desk: Iran has sent over 3,500 Indian citizens back home in the last 10 days, and their “valid visas” have been declared “expired” till further notice.
Sources confirmed that Iran, even during Israeli attacks, started deporting Indians by sending them to Turkmenistan via road link, as there was credible information available with Iranian intelligence networking that “several Indians” were involved in spying for Israel.
According to available information, at least 13 Indian citizens had been arrested for spying that was linked to the breach of security of Iran and Israeli attacks on the Iranian top leadership. The involvement of Indian citizens in Iran had also been established in an explosion in Bandar Abbas, which took place on April 28, 2025, causing the loss of 70 lives and injuries to hundreds. Sources said that “some Indian businessmen and traders” had been visiting this area for business purposes, and their involvement could not be ruled out in this event, which was a kind of act of terrorism inside Iran. The explosion was so intense that it was felt up to 50 km away, causing significant structural damage and prompting a temporary suspension of port operations.
A comprehensive investigation was conducted to determine the exact cause of the explosion that directed fingers towards “some Indian traders/businessmen visiting the area and getting information about the storage”.
According to Iran’s Khuzestan Prosecutor’s Office, 54 people accused of espionage and subversive activities allegedly linked to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency were under prosecution who were involved in supporting, gathering information for the enemy, propagandizing against the regime, as well as spreading falsehoods and rumors to damage the country’s internal security and disrupt the psychological security of society. Thirteen of them are Indians, sources claimed. Since Iran enjoys cordial relations with the Indian government therefore Iran has not yet shared “citizenship of foreigners (Indians) who had been arrested for espionage.
