PM Office Press Wing Islamabad: June 3, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important meeting on Diamer Bhasha Dam.
The Prime Minister said that the construction of new dams is essential to increase water storage capacity, provide water required for agriculture, and prevent floods. He was of the view that economic self-reliance depends on affordable electricity and agriculture, which requires increasing water storage and effective water use.
Prime Minister’s instructions to complete projects like Diamer Bhasha Dam on a priority basis to establish an effective energy production system and abundant water storage in the country.
Prime Minister’s instructions to immediately resolve all obstacles in the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam and complete the project as soon as possible. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister for Water Resources Moin Wattoo, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs and Inter-Provincial Relations Rana Sanaullah, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan and senior government officials concerned.
