Karachi, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehrik e Insaaf, and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) have joined hands supporting Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) candidate in tomorrow’s by-election in Umerkot’s NA-213 constituency. JUI (F) is also weighing the GDA candidate.
A final list of 18 candidates contesting the by-election has been issued and tough contest is expected between Pakistan Peoples Party’s Saba Talpur and the joint opposition candidate, Lal Malhi.
Out of a total of 498 polling stations, 259 have been declared sensitive, while 91 have been marked as highly sensitive. CCTV cameras will be installed at the most sensitive polling stations to ensure transparency and security.
A total of 4,698 polling staff have been deployed across the constituency, while 4,200 police personnel will be on duty to maintain law and order during the voting process. Additionally, Rangers will remain present in the area to support security arrangements.
